Following an interesting third round on Saturday, the Valspar Championship is set for an entertaining final round. Robert Garrigus appeared to be in control through 36 holes following his back-to-back rounds in the 60s, but a mediocre third round allowed the rest of the field to cut into his advantage. Now, he’ll open the final round with a one-stroke lead and a lot on the line.
2014 Valspar Championship: Tee times, pairings for Sunday’s round
We’re set for the final round from Copperhead with the Valspar Championship and more on the line. Robert Garrigus will begin the day with the lead, but can he hold it?

In addition to playing for the second PGA Tour win of his career, Garrigus will also be playing for a spot in the Masters. Garrigus is not currently qualified for the field, but would punch his ticket to Augusta with a win. With less than a month to go until the Masters, Garrigus won’t have many other opportunities to make the field. He built up a three-stroke lead through 36 holes in part because he dominated the par-5s. He birdied all eight par-5s during the first two rounds and continued that trend with birdies on his first two par-5s on Saturday. The long-hitting Garrigus was only able to come away with par on the two par-5s on the back. And that, combined with two missed short par putts, allowed the field to make up some of the distance.
Kevin Na was one of the players who took advantage, shooting a 3-under 68 to pull within a stroke of the lead. Na and Garrigus played in the final group on Saturday and will be the final pairing again on Sunday. That could prove to be an interesting paring. The two struggled to keep up with the pace in the third round and were put on the clock. We’ll see if that has an impact on Sunday.
John Senden shot up the leaderboard with a 64 in the third round, and he’ll begin the final round in third place at 6-under. Senden will play in the second-to-last group, joined by Justin Rose, who is 5-under. A total of 10 players, including Retief Goosen at 4-under and Luke Donald at 3-under will begin the final round within five strokes of the lead.
