How to watch the WGC Cadillac Championship live online, TV schedule, radio and more

The Honda Classic won’t hold the title of “best field of the year” for long, as the top 50 players in the world are set to tee it up at Doral this week for the WGC-Cadillac Championship. The four WGC events are huge money-making opportunities, with no cut, a guaranteed check of at least $45k, and big world rankings points on the line to further boost your status. The two WGC titles at Doral and Firestone are the most popular, and we see that again this week with 69 of the best players in the world trekking in from 19 different countries to Miami.

This is also the first time we’ll get a competitive look at the all new Doral, redesigned under the auspices of Donald Trump by the hand of ace architect Gil Hanse. The course is on the same track of land, but Hanse dramatically overhauled the way it will play, and many of the pros have just toured through it once in practice sessions. By all accounts, it should be a tougher test but provide a bit more drama coming into the clubhouse with opportunities for leaderboard shuffling.

The biggest story this week, of course, is the status of Tiger Woods. The No. 1 player in the world withdrew from the Honda on Sunday after chopping his way through 13 holes with what his people called back spasms. His statements last Sunday night didn’t sound optimistic and he indicated he’d need treatment all through the week up until Thursday’s first tee shot. Fortunately for Woods, there’s no traveling during this start at the Florida swing, as his newish home in Jupiter is within driving distance of both the Honda and Doral. While he pushed his press conference and practice rounds back, indications are that Woods will give it a go this week. How long he lasts or how well he plays is another matter.

The sister networks of Golf Channel and NBC will provide increased coverage of this big money event, as they did last week to start the Florida swing. This is one of bigger stretches of golf coverage for NBC, and because they fall under the Comcast umbrella with Golf Channel, there’s no need for that half-hour blackout we get on the weekends when the broadcast is handed off to CBS.

Also, this will be the second week of Golf Channel’s “spotlight coverage,” which runs concurrently on the weekend with NBC’s more traditional broadcast. The spotlight coverage will feature three of the four finishing holes at Trump Doral, and pepper the screen with ShotTracker stats and data from the infamous TrackMan. It’s a pretty cool way to post up on a hole or two if you’re a golf junkie, and a good second screen option. So if you want a break from Johnny Miller, who was in peak form during the string of ugly and gagging shots last Sunday, that’s a good option.

In addition to the enhanced TV coverage, there will also be multiple streams up and running all four days. PGATour.com will continued their featured holes stream from pretty much the start of each round until the finish, and GolfChannel/NBC will have their usual simulcast stream running during the broadcast windows each day. The limited and exclusive field also means that tee times aren’t jammed in from sun-up to sun-down with two separate waves, so most of the field will play during TV/streaming coverage. That wasn’t the case last week when two of Tiger’s rounds were played first thing in the morning before the broadcast.

The season is picking up a bit with the tour back on the east coast and this is another great tournament with a loaded field -- the best of the year so far. Here are all your media options for the week in Miami.
