WGC Cadillac Championship 2014 live stream: How to watch online, TV coverage and more

Jason Day had to go ruin things Thursday morning and withdraw from the WGC-Cadillac Championship, ending the tournament’s claim of hosting everyone in the top 50 of the world rankings this week. Day’s understandable WD aside, this is still the most loaded field and biggest pre-Masters event of the season, and Friday will be a full day jaunt to complete one and a half rounds.

As the forecast predicted, a severe thunderstorm with high winds blew through the Miami area Thursday afternoon right in the middle of the first round. The course took on the wind and water well enough, but play was suspended for more than two hours. Only six players were able to get through 18 holes, and the final groups still have a full nine holes to go.

The good news is that a WGC event already has a limited field and does not make a cut at the 36-hole midpoint. That gives the Tour some scheduling flexibility, especially during the first two days. The first round will resume at 8:45 a.m. ET on Friday morning, and the second round is supposed to go off as scheduled, with the first tee time of a two-hour cluster starting at 11 a.m. ET.

Golf Channel’s broadcast is not scheduled to come on the air until 1 p.m., but their Morning Drive show and pregame shows throughout the AM should have plenty of highlights and live look-ins, including the finish of Tiger Woods’ first round. Tiger has eight holes to complete in the morning, and will then tee off with Adam Scott and Henrik Stenson at 11:44 a.m. ET. So a majority of Tiger’s second round will fall within the original broadcast window, and given that Golf Channel has the rights all day, we’ll probably get every pertinent shot updated throughout the morning.

In addition to the pregame show and afternoon broadcast, Golf Channel will have their usual stream running via their LiveExtra service. You can also watch Golf Channel’s AM shows through that service as well, to get those look-ins while they finish up in the morning. In addition to the GC coverage, PGATour.com will have their featured holes stream again this week, starting with No. 1 at the beginning of the second round.

Golf Channel will combine with Comcast sister NBC on the weekend for their increased coverage of the Florida swing, bringing in a separate but concurrent spotlight coverage broadcast with stats and TrackMan data on the weekend (more on what some termed the “future of golf broadcasting”). That also brings Johnny Miller into the fold, but for now, you’ll get Terry Gannon and Frank Nobilo. Here are all your media options for Friday’s second round:
