2014 WGC Cadillac Championship: Tee times, pairings for Sunday’s round

Thirteen players, including Tiger Woods, will begin the final round within five strokes of the lead. Who will come away with the WGC win?

Chris Trotman

The course may have been the star of the tournament thus far, but with a crowded leaderboard, the WGC Cadillac Championship is set up for an exciting finish. Patrick Reed holds the 54-hole lead at 4-under, but 13 players will begin the final round within five strokes. With a course fully capable of biting back at any time, at least 20 players will begin the day with a chance to be a factor.

Tiger Woods is near the top of the list of contenders after a strong showing on Saturday. The No. 1 player in the world surged into a tie for fourth place by shooting a 6-under 66. He’ll begin the day at 1-under, three strokes off the lead. Woods is one of five players under par, joined by Reed, Jason Dufner, Hunter Mahan and Jamie Donaldson. Dufner is tied for second place at 2-under and he will join Reed in the final pairing on Sunday. Although Reed lacks the name recognition of some of the other contenders, he doesn’t lack the game. He has two career wins, including one this season, and has already added six top 25 finishes to his resume on the season.

Woods will play in the second-to-last group, joined by Hunter Mahan. The two are set to tee off at 2:35 p.m. ET. While Woods took advantage of friendly scoring conditions on Saturday with the low round of the day, Mahan was one of the few contenders who did not. He shot a 1-under 71 in the third round, well off the pace of Woods’ 66, Reed’s 69 and Dufner’s 68. Still, he remains just off the lead at 2-under and in prime condition to pull out a win.

The course played much easier on Saturday than it did on Friday, but that was due in part to easier weather conditions. If the wind picks up again on Sunday, it could lead to some ugly numbers and players scrambling to just get into the clubhouse. That could also bring more of the field into play, including Rory McIlroy at 3-over, Phil Mickelson at 2-over, Graeme McDowell at 1-over, and both Dustin Johnson and Zach Johnson who are even. Johnson and Johnson will be paired on Sunday.

Here is a complete look at the final round tee sheet. All times Eastern.
