Much is made of the cheap concessions offered on the grounds of Augusta National for the Masters. The prices for food and drink almost never change, and are ridiculously cheap compared to most sporting events.
Someone spent almost $5,700 on Masters merchandise at Augusta National
This is one way to spend your money.

But at the merchandise tent, things are a little different and of course, one of the sacred traditions of Augusta is that they do not license their apparel or products to anyone. The only place you can get clothes or other items with the Masters logo is on the grounds of the golf club. It’s one of the few courses and events where the pros actually spin through to maybe pick a few things up, as Golf Digest’s Dave Shedloski noted (and Geoff Shackelford has some photos from inside this year’s merchandise center).
Well, this person, whoever she/he is, got a little carried away. Golf Channel’s Jason Sobel tweeted out an image of a receipt from the merchandise center for 72 items, and uh, it was not cheap:
Was just shown this Masters merchandise tent receipt. For 72 items. And a few dollars. pic.twitter.com/Ym9vaG8M44
— Jason Sobel (@JasonSobelGC) April 10, 2014 It’s cool to pick something up if you make the trip to Augusta, but this is ridiculous.
It’s mostly standard-fare prepster stuff, lots of polos and sweaters and some socks, but the most egregious items for me are the $175 needlepoint belt and a $60 needlepoint wallet. The belt probably looks something like this:
Hey @ClintSquier & @JamieSlonisCG, it exists and it's now mine: pic.twitter.com/bRNUKBid2w
— Harry Arnett (@HarryArnettCG) April 8, 2014 As if you don’t look dumb enough rolling up a tab where the tax alone is more than $400, you look like an idiot showing up to work/school/bar (or maybe for this person, NFL meetings) in a Masters logo all the time.
Next time, spend that money on 1,400 or so beers or maybe 3,700 or so chicken biscuits.
