2014 RBC Heritage streaming: How to watch online, TV coverage and more

Poor weather has already caused issues at the RBC Open. The issues are expected to continue on Saturday and may impact the planned television coverage.

Professional golf tournaments typically run like well-oiled, finely tuned machines. The week leading up to the tournament, the tournament itself, the television coverage, it all goes off without a hitch. That is, assuming weather cooperates. Everything can quickly become chaos when poor weather decides to interrupt. That is the case this week at the RBC Heritage Open, where play was suspended on Friday due to poor weather, and it might not get much better on Saturday.

Heavy rains forced a suspension of play on Friday with 65 players still on the course. The plan is for those players to get back out on the course Saturday morning, beginning at 8 a.m. ET. Weather permitting, the second round should wrap up around noon and the third round would begin not long after. Even if weather cooperates, it will be a challenge to get the entire third round in before darkness forces a stop. All of that assumes there won’t be any more delays, which may be a big assumption with rain in the forecast on Saturday.

The suspension in play will create an unusual schedule on Saturday, which will have an impact on television coverage. Golf Channel was scheduled to begin third-round coverage at 1 p.m. ET. That is still the case, although there is a chance the third round won’t be underway yet, or will be only barely underway. The coverage will run until 2:30 p.m. with CBS then picking up coverage at 3 p.m. CBS’ coverage will continue until at least 6 p.m. and could run long if players remain on the course, trying to get in as much of the third round as possible.

In all, viewers should be able to watch more than four hours of live coverage, assuming live golf is being played during the broadcast windows. If weather again forces a delay or suspension, the broadcasts will consist of a lot of highlights or previously recorded footage. If coverage is live, viewers will also be able to watch online thanks to streams from Golf Live Extra and CBSSports.com.
