2014 Zurich Classic: Tee times, pairings for Saturday’s round

Scores went low at TPC Louisiana on Thursday and Friday. Now, we’ll see what the weekend has in store, beginning with the third round. Ben Martin leads by three strokes, with a host of challengers not far behind.

Ben Martin entered this PGA Tour season with just one top-10 finish on his resume. He’s already added two more to it and now finds himself playing in the final pairing on the weekend. Martin will begin the third round of the Zurich Classic at 15-under, three strokes ahead of the field. He has led wire-to-wire thus far, but with scores going low, he will likely need to keep posting red numbers if he’s going to remain in the lead.

Martin hasn’t fared especially well on Tour recently, missing the cut in seven of his last nine events. When he has made the cut, however, he’s played well, with a third-place finish at the Puerto Rico Open and a T3 finish last week at the RBC Heritage. After setting a course record with a 10-under 62 on Thursday and following it up with a 5-under 67 on Friday, he’s well on his way to another top-10 finish. Outside of a bogey-double bogey stretch in the second round, Martin has looked great. Those were his only dropped shots in the first 36 holes, compared to 16 birdies and an eagle.

He hasn’t been the only player to find consistent success so far. Andrew Svoboda was in second place after both the first and second rounds, and Seung-yul Noh was tied for third on Thursday and alone in third on Friday. They will join Martin in the final pairing on Saturday, with the three set to tee off at 12:45 p.m. ET. Nine players are within six strokes of the lead heading into the third round, including Keegan Bradley at 9-under. Bradley shot a 6-under 66 on Friday to jump into a tie for seventh place. He’ll play in the third-to-final group, joined by Charley Hoffman and Jeff Overton. The three are scheduled to step to the first tee at 12:25 p.m.

Television coverage is scheduled to run on Golf Channel from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and then on CBS from 3 to 6 p.m. The four-and-a-half hours of coverage will allow viewers to watch the late groups live, with the majority of their rounds happening during the broadcasts. Graham DeLaet, Retief Goosen, Justin Rose and Bo Van Pelt are also among the players set for afternoon tee times.
