Michael Jordan, cigar in mouth, drains chip shot at his own golf tournament in Las Vegas

The greatest basketball player ever is also great at smoking cigars while excelling in games of leisure in Las Vegas.

With his Charlotte Bobcats safely into the NBA postseason, owner Michael Jordan spent the past weekend out in the Las Vegas golfing in his own celebrity tournament.

Michael Jordan, Las Vegas, and golf go together as well as any three things in this world possibly could. Before the weekend, we got a shot of Jordan’s personalized golf cart, dipped in Carolina blue with his signature all over it.

A 2009 GolfDigest article indicated that Jordan was playing to a 3 handicap, which is obviously much, much better than most of the rest of the world. You have to imagine it’s how he spends most of his free time, but that doesn’t make a hole-out chip shot at his own tournament any less exciting for him.

Here’s video that emerged from the event at the exclusive and typically walled-off Shadow Creek in Vegas, and MJ, with cigar in mouth, was quite pleased with his short game:

Not a bad little run out into the hole, but it doesn’t quite challenge the chip pulled off by Matt Jones on Sunday in Houston. Still, between the golf cart and this hole-out, where it should be noted he self-assuredly had his caddie pull the flagstick, we’re always happy to get Jordan golf highlights, which are never bad for the game.
