Masters 2014 TV coverage: Practice wraps up on Wednesday

Players will get their final practice time in, and some will end the day in the Par 3 Contest.

Andrew Redington

The start of the 2014 Masters Tournament is now just a day away, but before players hit the course when it counts, they’ll get in one more day of practice at Augusta National. Most have already completed the majority of their pre-tournament work. Wednesday is a day to refine any lingering issues while possibly playing around the course one last time. With Monday being almost a complete rain out, we may see more players on the course than normal. Some players will have a little fun to end the day, playing in the famed Par 3 Contest.

CBS Sports Network will provide limited coverage of the practice sessions with Masters on the Range airing from 9 to 11 a.m. ET. The show includes player interviews and coverage from the Augusta National driving range. Viewers can also stream the broadcast online with coverage at CBSSports.com and Masters.com.

The headline event on Wednesday will be the Par 3 Contest. It is scheduled to begin around noon, with ESPN broadcasting from 3 to 5 p.m. Competitors will play nine par-3 holes, ranging from 70 to 140 yards. Some use the time to experience something unique with their family and friends. Kids, wives, girlfriends and others often serve as caddies, and some even sub in for a shot or two. There will be plenty of cute kid gifs:

Other players take it more seriously since the winner walks away with a trophy. No player has ever won the Par 3 Contest and Masters in the same year, a well-known curse that many try to avoid.
