With just one more day until the first tee shot, Adam Scott and Rory McIlroy are listed as co-favorites to win the 2014 Masters at 10/1. It makes sense that these two would be the favorite, but the fact that the oddsmakers and bettors haven’t settled on one is another sign that Tiger Woods is not on the grounds of Augusta National this week. Typically, Woods is an overwhelming favorite no matter where his game is at and what course he is playing.
Latest Masters 2014 odds: Adam Scott and Rory McIlroy will be co-favorites
With no Tiger Woods in the field, the oddsmakers tab his Nike friend and the defending champion as the two favorites for the 2014 Masters.

This time last year, Tiger already had three wins under his belt, re-ascended to No. 1 in the world, and was an overwhelming 7/2 favorite, odds almost four times lower than the next player. Scott has a very realistic chance of going back-to-back at Augusta, an occurrence that’s not super rare in the history of the Masters. The names who have pulled it off, of course, are the game’s greats -- Jack Nicklaus (1965/66), Nick Faldo (1989/90), and Tiger Woods (2001/02). Scott has the talent to be one of the game’s multiple major winners, and he’s playing well coming into this year’s tournament . But his broomstick putter looked very shaky the last time we saw him on Sunday at Bay Hill.
2014 Masters
Rory has his own set of demons here, hounded by that Sunday implosion in 2011 when he led off with a multi-shot lead in the final pairing of the day. McIlroy’s game is in totally different shape than it was last year, when he was still adapting to his new Nike sticks and had very few successful competitive rounds in the first quarter. Now he’s back to contending in almost every event he plays and has the perfect game -- a high ball and easy draw -- to score well at Augusta. Rory is working on some different putting tweaks with coach Dave Stockton, but if he gets it rolling moderately well this week, he’ll be there on the first page of the leaderboard on Sunday.
Following the two favorites are some of the big names you would expect -- Phil Mickelson, Jason Day, Matt Kuchar and Sergio Garcia. I think Garcia is intriguing at 20/1, but both he and Kuchar have shot up the board in recent weeks and have much lower odds now.
