Brendon Todd has never finished better than a tie for sixth in a PGA Tour event. He’s well on his way to a career-best finish this week, but he’ll need a strong final 36 holes to hold off the rest of a charging field. Todd carded the second-best round on Friday, a 6-under 64 propelling him to the top of the leaderboard and two strokes ahead of the competition.
HP Byron Nelson Championship 2014: Tee times, TV schedule for Saturday’s round
The Byron Nelson Championship heads to the weekend with a crowded leaderboard of contenders.

The 28-year-old is in his fourth season of playing on Tour. As the leader heading into moving day, he will be playing in the final group on Saturday. Eight players are tied for second place at 6-under, including Graham DeLaet and Morgan Hoffmann, both of whom will join Todd in the final group and tee off at 1 p.m. ET. There is still a lot of golf to be played, and one bad round could end Todd’s chances of contending. However, he has a lot on the line. Not only would a win secure his place on Tour and give him exemptions into the major championships, the $1.242 million first-place prize would nearly match his total earnings since the start of last season.
Every player teeing off in the final three groups will begin Saturday at 6-under or better. That’s even more impressive when you consider they are playing in groups of three instead of the customary twosomes on weekends. Martin Kaymer -- fresh off his Players Championship victory and back in contention -- will join Mike Weir and Paul Casey in the second-to-last group, set to tee off at 12:50 p.m. Tim Herron, Marc Leishman and Charles Howell III are scheduled to hit the course one group prior, teeing off at 12:40 p.m.
With the tournament headed to the weekend, CBS will join Golf Channel in providing television coverage. The broadcast will air on Golf Channel from 1 p.m. until 2:30. There will be a 30-minute blackout before CBS begins its broadcast at 3 p.m. With coverage beginning right around the time the late groups are making their way to the first tee, viewers won’t miss much of the leaders’ third rounds.
The CBS and Golf Channel coverage will be available online with live streams. Viewers able to authenticate a cable provider will be able to watch a live simulcast of Golf Channel coverage via Golf LiveExtra. The late television coverage will be available online with a stream from CBSSports.com.
PGA Tour Network on Sirius-XM will provide radio coverage from noon to 6 p.m.
Third-round coverage:
TV: Golf Channel - 1 to 2:30 p.m.; CBS - 3 to 6 p.m.
Online: Golf Live Extra - 1 to 2:30 p.m.; CBSSports.com - 3 to 6 p.m.
Radio: PGA Tour Network (Sirius-XM channel 208/93) - noon to 6 p.m.
