The PGA Tour has managed to avoid major weather disruption all year, a welcome change from last season when tournaments were significantly affected by rain, snow, high winds, fog, lightning, flooding, and every other kind of inclement weather from start to finish. The FedEx St. Jude Classic has been the first major logistical challenge due to weather, with storms halting play all three days so far, and often for huge chunks of time. It’s the first time this event has been hit with a weather delay since 2010, but they’ve been constant all week.
2014 FedEx St. Jude Classic: Tee times, TV schedule, and streaming for Sunday in Memphis
The annual stop in Memphis has been hit by bad weather every day so far, but the PGA Tour will attempt to finish on time in what will be a long, hurried Sunday at the FedEx St. Jude Classic.

And with all that, we’ve still got a chance to finish things up on time Sunday evening. Ben Crane starts the day with a four-shot lead and playing in the final group, which is just six holes into the third round. The first group off in the third round is through 16 holes, and the Tour will restart everyone at 7 a.m. local time in Memphis (8 a.m. ET). Crane has four PGA Tour titles, but he hasn’t won since 2011 and is recently more known for a weird routine for Internet videos than his game. He’s a character that’s probably good for the game, so getting back to winning would be a bonus for the Tour.
There’s obviously extra urgency to get this tournament wrapped up today with U.S. Open week starting on Monday. A significant portion of the field still in Memphis is also playing at Pinehurst, and will want to jet off to North Carolina as soon as possible to start the prep week there. So the Tour will restart everyone in position for the third round at 8 a.m. ET, and then keep things rolling throughout the morning and not re-pair the groups. That means the same threesomes will go right back out, as opposed to the usual re-sorting of the tee times by position on the leaderboard. The tee times should fall between 9 and 11 a.m. ET, with TV coverage continuing unaltered.
REVISED: For tomorrow, Round 3 will resume at 7 am central. Final round pairings are scheduled for 8:10 - 10 am in the same pairings
— FedExSt.JudeClassic (@fesjcmemphis) June 8, 2014 So if there’s no more weather disruptions on Sunday, we should be back in place by Sunday afternoon when Golf Channel and CBS go live with the coverage. Here’s the media schedule for Sunday:
UPDATE: The restart and rolling tee times has play well ahead of the TV schedule, so both Golf Channel and CBS will have tape-delayed coverage. If there are no storms, it appears the tournament should wrap up about two hours earlier than the scheduled 6 p.m. finish.
Sunday coverage (all times ET):
TV: Golf Channel - 1-2:30 p.m., CBS - 3-6 p.m.
Online: Golf LiveExtra - 1-2:30 p.m., PGATour-CBS simulcast - 3-6 p.m.
Radio: PGA Tour Radio on Sirius-XM (Ch. 93/208) - 12-6 p.m.
There’s still chance for more storms in the afternoon, but it’s not as threatening as the first three days in Memphis. A Monday finish is never desirable for the Tour, the event, the players, or TV, but it would be especially unwanted running into U.S. Open week. Phil Mickelson is technically “in the hunt” at 5-under, but he’s probably got North Carolina on his mind and is ready to finish up his final two rounds. Here’s where the field stands heading into the third round restart on Sunday:
