It’s been a good year for wildlife out on the golf course. We’ve acquainted ourselves with golf otter, golf turtle, golf duck, and golf gator. Now, we’ve had an encounter with golf fox, who patrolled the fairways of the Nova Scotia Open on the Web.com Tour on Thursday.

Golf fox helps a Web.com Tour player track his shot into the green, quickly goes back to scratching himself.
The fox, which appeared rather emaciated to my untrained eye, was unperturbed by the nearby golfers. In fact, he was rapt with interest on the ball flight of the approach shot of Albin Choi.
The fox was anxious for just a moment as the players and camera crews made their way through his territory, but then promptly went back to scratching himself before presumably trotting off to watch another group.
My colleague, Seth Rosenthal, the foremost authority on golf wildlife, has running Golf Animal Rankings for this year, and currently it’s 1) Golf Otter 2) Golf Turtle 3) Golf Gator. I’m not the expert, but I think Fox slides in behind Otter and Turtle and ahead of Gator.
