Roy Halladay Is Ready To Murder Cardinals, Figuratively Speaking

Roy Halladay faces off against the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday at 5:07 pm, and Friday, he was asked about the challenge posed by a deep Cardinals lineup. Courtesy of Crossing Broad, a transcript:

↵↵Q: Can you talk about the balance of being in touch with what the other team’s capable of, having the proper respect, but at the end of all that, thinking about what do I know I can do and what our team is capable of, so you don’t give too much respect or too little? That balance there.

↵Halladay: I heard a quote a long time ago, I came here to bury Caesar, not praise him.

↵↵Did he just say he was going to murder the St. Louis Cardinals? God. That’s kinda awesome, actually.

↵So let this be a lesson, pro athletes: When faced with a choice between empty cliches and faint praise, or a badass quote from ancient literature, you should always joke about assassinating a historical icon. It’s just more fun for everybody. You can watch the full clip here.
