Georgia Boys Finals: Norcross Stuns Nationally Ranked Milton

Duluth - Milton’s dream of back-to-back state titles, even a national title, crashed Friday night when Norcross, the last Georgia team to repeat in Class AAAAA, came from 10 points down in the fourth quarter and won 59-55.

Milton, a team with four Division I signees and two blue-chip juniors, led 49-39 with six minutes to play.

Norcross guard Chris Bolden, a junior who is committed to Miami, led the comeback. He scored nine of his 11 points in the fourth quarter, including two free throws to break the final tie with 28 seconds left. He made two more with 5 seconds left.

Milton, which had been ranked No. 3 by USA Today and other polls, finished 29-3. Its 19-game winning streak was ended.

Norcross, which started 3-6, won its final 17.

Milton’s Shannon Scott scored 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting, but he was scoreless in the final quarter. Evan Nolte scored 15 points, nine of them on 3-pointers.

For Norcross, Alonzo Nelson-Ododa scored 13 points and had 14 rebounds. E. Victor Nickerson, who made a critical 3-pointer for a tie in the fourth quarter, finished with 15.
