Milford Mill spoiled Centennial’s best season in school history and repeated as state champions with a 56-44 win in the Maryland 3A finals at the Comcast Center in College Park Saturday afternoon.

In the first quarter, Centennial (20-7) made only one of 16 shots resulting in a 13-2 deficit. A team known for its defensive tenacity, Balitmore-area Milford Mill (25-2) blocked four shots in the frame and altered others.
Centennial, located in the Balitmore suburb of Ellicott City, went on a 7-0 run in the middle of the second quarter to close to within 17-11 and finished the half down 21-16.
Milford Mill, led by 19 points from senior wing Tevin Hanner, stretched the lead to 35-25 at the end of three quarters and opened up the lead to as many as 19 in the fourth quarter.
Senior forward Aaron Adames scored 19 points for Centennial, which had never before made it past the quarterfinals. Junior point guard Keonte Potts added 18 in the loss.
