Nationally ranked Heights of Wichita extended its winning streak to 44 games and defeated Blue Valley Northwest 58-51 Saturday in the Class 6A boys basketball final of Kansas.

Heights (25-0) defended its title, but Blue Valley came back from an early 11-point deficit to tie the game at 43 with 3:38 left.
Perry Ellis, one of the elite recruits for the class of 2012, gave Heights the lead for good with two free throws with 2:32 left. Ellis,a 6-foot-8 power forward, was held to nine points.
Eric Dobbins made a key 3-pointer for a 48-43 lead with 1:24 left. Terrance Moore made a three-point play with 1:07 left and another layup with 53 seconds left for a 53-47 lead.
Moore finished with a team-leading 17 opints. Evan Wessel had 15 for Heights. Dobbins had only nine points but made five assists.
For Blue Valley (23-2), Brett Fisher scored 116 points, nine on 3-pointers. George Bugarinovic had 17 rebounds and six points.
Heights is ranked as highly as No. 9 by USA Today.
