Jamesville-DeWitt Earns 4th Consecutive Championship, Beats Harborfields 66-51 In Class A Final

Jamesville-DeWitt jumped to a 16-point lead in the first quarter and defeated Harborfields 66-51 in New York’s Class A final on Sunday afternoon at the Glens Falls Civic Center

It was the fourth straight state title for Jamesville-DeWitt, tying a state record.

Dajuan Coleman scored 22 pounts and had 16 rebounds and was named tournament most valuable player.

Jamesville-DeWitt (22-3) had control early, leading 25-9 after the first quarter and 40-20 at halftime.

Harborfields (21-3) had won its past 18 games, but Coleman and Cavanaugh (22 points) ended up being too much for the Greenlawn-based team.

Among those in attendance was University of Kentucky head coach John Calipari. His main interest was Coleman, according to Alex Kline of the TheRecruitScoop.com. Coleman will return with to Jamesville-DeWitt next season along with fellow junior Cavanaugh with the possibility to guide their team to a state record fifth straight championship.

Jamesville-DeWitt tied the state record for consecutive state titles with four, also held by Amityville (2000-03). Coincidentally, Amityville’s head coach then and now, Jack Agostino, is the brother of Harborfields’ head coach, Chris Agostino. The younger brother wasn’t able to prevent the record-tying effort.

Nick Fessenden (18 points) and Matt McLeod (17 points) were Harborfields’ leading scorers.
