Baseball road trip, anyone?

Someone named Chris Jensen has written what looks like a pretty damned interesting book: Baseball State by State: Major and Negro League Players, Ballparks, Museums and Historical Sites. Which, I’m a little surprised and embarrassed to admit, I don’t yet have. But hey, $49.50 (plus shipping) is a lot of money! Maybe, someday. When my ship finally comes in.

Fortunately, Seamheads offers a (very) abridged version, with this list of 22 “unique” baseball museums. For me, the good news is that I’ve already visited Hank Aaron’s Childhood Home, B’s Ballpark Museum, The Bob Feller Museum, The Louisville Slugger Museum, The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, and The Yogi Berra Museum. The better news for me? That leaves 16 museums I have not visited yet. And dang if I’m not a a sucker for a museum.

Oh, and here’s one that didn’t make the list ... O’Doherty’s Irish Grille, in Spokane, Washington. There, just a couple of months ago, the Eddie Gaedel Society unveiled a new plaque devoted to Gaedel, which joined a small statue of Gaedel, which was sculpted by a local nun, Sister Paula Turnbull.

You just gotta get out there and see the world, man. There’s a lot of stuff.
