Hot Corner Book Club: Baseball’s Greatest Stories

My old friend Craig Wright’s got a new book, and it’s really good. From the foreword:

Every time I read one of Craig’s stories, it’s like reading the very best parts of a book that I should read, but probably never will. Which is to say that Craig’s stories are the only things that I actually must read, if I’m to maintain my status as somebody who actually knows a little something. Whether I deserve it or not.

Okay, so I wrote the foreword. But it’s heartfelt. Craig’s book, Pages from Baseball’s Past, represents the very best stories that he’s written about baseball history, and he’s written hundreds of great stories over the last few decades. It’s also a beautiful, substantial book, filled with perfectly evocative images.

It’s been a great fall for baseball books -- I’ll be talking about more of them soon -- but this one really shouldn’t be missed.
