Don Denkinger's infamous call happened on October 26, 1985. Four months later, the Cardinals organization still could not move on -- though it wasn't through any fault of their own. On February 7, 1986, the Cardinals sent a cease-and-desist letter to Bad Call Poster Co. telling the company, founded by two Cardinals fans from Nebraska, to stop selling a poster depicting a painting of the play. Bill VonSeggern, a lawyer in Grand Island, Neb., felt that way and commissioned local artist Bob Kerby to do the painting. After Kerby captured the awful moment on canvas, VonSeggern founded Bad Call Poster Co. and began selling copies of the work for $15 each. But the Cards, saying they wanted to put the call behind them and also claiming trademark infringement, demanded that VonSeggern stop selling the posters. VonSeggern, who has sold more than 500 of them, says he won’t close up shop.The internet, sadly, has failed us as I cannot seem to find a copy of this poster anywhere. Though I suppose I haven’t checked the den in Todd Worrell’s house yet...
