Surviving the zombie apocalypse in an MLB stadium

The good folks over at Reddit Baseball ask an interesting question today: Which MLB stadium would make the best Zombie fortress?

User hideisalive, who asks the question, suggests Great American Ballpark, PNC Park, and AT&T Park because of their proximity to water. That’s reasonable, but I’m not sure I like the idea of an open stadium near a large population center as my choice of fortress. The thread has a host of other suggestions.

Personally, I think I’d prefer a domed stadium that’s difficult to reach. Yes, that removes the ability to plant crops inside, but I think the security of an enclosed space is more important. The retractable roof stadiums might be good options, but many of them (Safeco Field, Chase Field, Minute Maid Park, Rogers Centre) are too close to downtown.

My choices would likely come down to Miller Park, Tropicana Field, or Marlins Park. As a resident of Milwaukee, I can vouch for Miller Park’s relative seclusion down in the Menomonee Valley. That is certainly an asset for it. However, media reports lead me to believe that both Florida stadiums are a bit out of the way as well. I’m hesitant to choose Miller Park because there are so many glass walls on the ground floor of the building -- that just won’t cut it against a horde of the undead. But maybe that’s true for all domed stadiums?

My pick then, as someone who has never been there in person, would be Tropicana Field. It has the best balance of seclusion and cover among the 30 big league ballparks and would give my group the best chance at survival. Of course, then we’d be stuck looking at it for the rest of our lives... Ugh. Maybe I should change my answer.
