Prince Fielder & Miguel Cabrera Smash Mirror-Image Bombs

Leon Halip

There’s much value in having a lefty and righty slugger bat back-to-back in your lineup. Mostly, it’s about the strategy of the situation -- forcing a starting pitcher to not get too comfortable with any one batting side, making things difficult on the opposing manager in late game situations -- but sometimes it’s about more than that. Sometimes it’s about the beauty of too powerful sluggers dominating the plate.

On Friday, Tigers' mashers Prince Fielder and Miguel Cabrera hit massive home runs in back-to-back innings off of Cleveland Indians starter Corey Kluber. Now, it isn't exactly groundbreaking news when Fielder and Cabrera both hit home runs in the same game (it happened eight times last year alone), but Friday was special for another reason. The home runs, launched from opposite sides of the plate, landed in nearly identical, but opposite, parts of the ballpark.

In short, Fielder and Cabrera hit nearly mirror-imaged home runs. And they were glorious. Watch for yourself.

And in case the gifs didn’t quite do the home runs justice, here are Fielder and Cabrera watching their home runs fly...

Really, a thing of beauty.
