Star Trek invades the 1981 All-Star Game

With Star Trek Into Darkness wrapping up a blockbuster opening weekend today behind Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk, Zachary Quinto’s Mr. Spock, and Benedict Cumberbatch’s Whoever-the-hell-he-is, it’s time for a quick reminder of what the franchise was in July 1981.

One word: filler.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture had done poorly at the box office only two years before and, while a script for what would eventually become Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan was actively being worked on, it was still months away from being filmed.
