Mike Carp doesn’t appreciate a good high knuckleball?

Jim Rogash

We’ve seen outfielders pitching before last night, which isn’t to suggest that last night wasn’t interesting. Here’s the video of three outs David Murphy recorded last night against the Red Sox:

Here’s a lovely scouting report of David Murphy the Pitcher, via Baseball Prospectus and Dan Rozensun. Here’s the really neat-o thing that happened, though ... That strikeout up there in the video? That was a knuckleball, and Mike Carp was so frustrated that he bitched about the call and got kicked out of the game. Which makes him, I’m pretty sure, the first player in major-league history who got struck out by a knuckleball-throwing outfielder in a 17-5 game and complained enough to get ejected.

Here’s plenty more about Murphy’s outing.
