In that game at Comiskey Park in 1933, Lefty Gomez earned the win for the victorious American League while Lefty Grove came in to finish it out for the junior circuit. Lou Gehrig also started in the game (there were six Yankees on the 18-man squad -- things never change).

Of course, the bearer of this ticket never actually saw any of that happen. If he had, the ticket stub would be ripped off of the end there -- and the value of this piece of memorabilia would be substantially less.
We must be thankful for his sacrifice, though. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have the magic of looking at the ticket and being transported back to that (no doubt) hot and muggy day in Chicago, seeing Ruth and Gehrig palling around on the field with Pie Traynor and John McGraw, a sour Kenesaw Mountain Landis looking on, all the while men in dark suits pack into the stands to sweat out an exhibition between the greatest players in the game. Not a bad deal.
