Mariano Rivera’s All-Star Game highlight show

Mike Coppola

You probably know that Mariano Rivera’s been fantastic in October. Sure, you can probably remember him actually losing a game or two. But that’s because he’s pitched in so many postseason games. As tremendous as he’s been during the regular season, he’s been even tremendousier in the postseason: In 141 innings, Mo’s got a 0.70 ERA and five times more strikeouts than walks.

Yesterday I noticed that Rivera’s pitched in a bunch of All-Star Games, which made me wonder how he’s fared. I couldn’t remember him giving up a grand slam to Chipper Jones or anything, but I thought I’d check. Here’s his ERA in eight All-Star appearances:

0.0000000

You can either add as many zeroes as you like, or delete all but the first. Adds up to the same thing. He did give up a run once, but it was unearned. He’s never walked a National League foe. Anyway, all this has been a lead-in to the feature attraction from MLB Productions, a highlight show of Rivera’s All-Star Game action:

You’re welcome, Mofans. Now let’s hope he closes out a win tonight for the good guys.
