Get off my lawn! -- Unless it’s to play baseball

When is the last time you saw a bunch of kids playing a pickup baseball game? Personally, I can’t remember when it was for me. Does it make me a curmudgeon to think there’s something terribly wrong with this; that it was preferable for kids to self-generate a ballgame like these lads in 1957 than it is to wait for the adults to do it for them as is the modern approach?

If it does, then so be it; but I guess if this very popular movie didn’t revive the practice, nothing ever will.
