Pimping the HoF induction ceremony

eBay Item of the Day

This week, we’re going to be promoting the upcoming Hall of Fame induction ceremony by listing items related to the three inductees, Hank O’Day, Deacon White and Jacob Ruppert. It is our fervent hope that this will help drive a horde to Cooperstown for the proceedings.

First up is umpire O’Day. Surprisingly, there is not a lot of O’Day-related material available. In fact, almost all of what is for sale is of the repro variety. The only original item currently listed on eBay is this wire photo from 1956 which shows the old arbiter with Connie Mack, who was his catcher when he pitched in the 1880s prior to his second career. Even this item, which was produced when Mack died, came into being four decades after the image it contains was taken.
