Update: Throwless Joe Jackson

Monday night, I saw Joe Jackson’s great-great-great-nephew struggle terribly to make the most routine throws from behind the plate. Tuesday morning, I diagnosed baseball’s latest Joe Jackson with Mackey Sasser Disease.

Well, if I ever give you any medical advice, don’t listen. Because there’s another explanation:

Suffice to say that Joe Jackson Jr.’s professional baseball career has gotten off to a rough start.

But the way he sees it, things can only get better.

“My bags were lost on the way out here,” said Jackson, who reported to the Texas Rangers’ Spokane (Wash.) Class A rookie club on June 10.

The next day – his first in uniform for the Spokane Indians – Jackson broke the thumb on his right (throwing) hand while catching in the bullpen.

Let’s hope that as the thumb heals up, Jackson’s able to throw the ball back to the catcher in the air every time.
