Hal McCoy has an interview with Joey Votto up on Fox Sports Ohio to address the worst controversy in the history of sports: Votto making too few outs. There are two takeaways from this.
People are horrible, Joey Votto is polite

1. This is the worst controversy in the history of sports
Votto says he hears the mumbling of discontent about taking too many walks and not driving in a box car full of runs.
”Make more outs, you horrible person!“Though, to be fair, they keep track of RBI opportunities over at Baseball-Reference.com, and here’s what Votto is doing:
Joey Votto (551 PA) RBI: 57; Actual Runners on Base: 328
ML average with 551 PA: 57; Avg. Runners on Base: 328
So in one respect, Votto has been completely average with runners on base. Which is counter-intuitive, at best. But it’s probably a fluke -- he’s never come that close to average before.
It explains the sentiment around the worst controversy in the history of sports. Maybe it’s just a silly controversy, then.
2. They talk funny in Canada
“I’m a greedy blankety-blank and I want every single RBI, I want every every single run, I want every single home run. But I can’t do it, I can’t do it.”
“People think I’ve switched my hitting approach in general, but I’m the exact same guy, the exact same greedy blankety-blank.”
Blankety-blank.
