Position-players-pitching alert: Jamey Carroll

USA TODAY Sports

The first thing you should know is that @Natt0 made this GIF, and it deserves to be shared:

Carroll_medium

The second thing you should know is that Jamey Carroll is a position player, and he threw in the bottom of the eighth inning of Monday’s Royals/Twins blowout. This means the Twins are the current leader in “havin’ fun” and “lettin’ it all hang loose.” The last time a Twins position player pitched was Drew Butera in 2012, so the wait wasn’t that long.

Notes:

  • Carroll retired the side in order.
  • He used nine pitches.
  • He topped out at 79 m.p.h.
  • His first two pitches were classified as a knuckleball
  • His last seven were classified as changeups
  • lol

The obligatory GIF:

Twins!

Also, good work, Jamey Carroll. Good contributing to the position-player-pitching arts. That goes for you too, Ron Gardenhire. We need more skippers like you.
