I’ve not seen a great deal of Keith Olbermann’s new show, because he necessarily covers non-baseball “sports” and I don’t like to poison my mind with those until after the World Serious. If then. But when Olbermann talks about baseball -- his first love, by the way -- I’m all ears.

That said, I’m not real wild about the “World’s Worst” segment, a carryover from Olbermann’s MSNBC program. Before, it was a takedown of politicians and assorted other miscreants who might well be going to hell for their misdeeds. Documenting their hypocrisies and misdeeds and jingoism and fear-mongering is God’s work. Did they all deserve the “Worst Person” label? Maybe not. But close is good enough for politicians and miscreants.
I think it’s more difficult to find well-deserving souls in sports. I mean, they’re out there. But it’s sports, and not (usually) life and death. Which is why Olbermann prefaced last night’s segment with a disclaimer. Still, it’s hard for me to figure how “MLB Schedulers” can possibly qualify, even with the disclaimer. Really, this is just an excuse to review the fates of teams that have opened the baseball season outside our 50 states. If that’s something that interests you, here you go:
