Leo Durocher’s range

Leo Durocher won 2,000 games as a manager for the Dodgers, Giants, Cubs, and Astros. But between baseball stints, he liked to appear on television, always playing himself, and always finding out that one of the show’s main characters possessed a heretofore undiscovered talent for baseball.

Here he is spotting Jethro’s incredibly powerful and accurate throwing arm on an episode of The Beverly Hillbillies:

And here’s Leo scouting Herman Munster of The Munsters, the show that taught us that monsters are people, too. Well actually, they’re not people at all, they’re hideous monsters, but man are they funny!

Finally, here’s Leo Durocher scouting Mr. Ed, who was a horse. Here’s the thing about this horse, though: He could talk. But in a high-concept twist, he only spoke to one man, and he only ever told him to kill people.
