2012 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials: Schedule For The Week In Omaha

The 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Swimming begin Monday morning at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb., with preliminary heats in the men’s 400m IM. Throughout the week, the team that will represent the USA at the 2012 Summer Olympics will be decided, with the top two finishers in 26 events advancing to London.

The marquee events will be “any events with Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte battling each other” -- the rivals will duel in six events: 400m IM, 100m and 200m free, 200m back, 200m IM and 100m fly.

On the women’s side, 45-year-old Dana Torres is in the 50m free, hoping to make her sixth Olympic team. At the opposite end of the spectrum is Missy Franklin, a 17-year-old from Colorado, who is entered in five events: 50m free, 100m and 200m back, and 100m and 200m freestyle.
