VIDEO: If You Build It, They Will Swim

The pool being used for the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials is not permanent. In fact, it didn’t even exist until shortly before the trials got under way. It was constructed at CenturyLink Center in Omaha and will be disassembled after the dust settles at the trials.

How was the pool put together? Hit the jump for an outstanding time-lapse.

And a GIF:

The pool is temporary and will later be shipped off elsewhere. For the next week, though, it’ll play host to many of the best swimmers in the world.

Now, you’re probably wondering how the pool was filled. A garden hose wouldn’t work and there was no fancy technology at play. Instead, they added water using a ladder truck. With its lights on, of course...

The best, and only, way to fill a pool. So America. So proud.

Stay with our StoryStream for the latest from the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Swimming in Omaha as Team USA is decided.
