In Praise Of Daniele Hypolito’s Brazilian Flag Eye Makeup

I know gymnastics is a sport that prizes theatricality, but Daniele Hypolito’s eye makeup — blue, yellow and green, for the Brazilian flag — was just beyond, right?

This cap of the look, from just before NBC’s airing of her floor exercise, shows what Olympic gymnasts can do with a brush, a pencil and some eyeshadow. Unfortunately for Hypolito, competing in her fourth Olympics, her floor exercise was not up to her makeup’s standards, as she required five steps to get out of one tumbling pass and scored just an 11.900 in the event.
