Day 2 of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London has featured plenty of medaling events such as the Men’s Individual Sabre. In the gold medal match, Hungary’s Aron Szilagyi took home the gold medal, defeating Italy’s Diego Occhiuzzi by a score of 15-8. Szilagyi jumped out to a big 8-1 lead early, but in the second period, Occhiuzzi picked up 7 hits. It wasn’t enough, however, as Szilagyi also picked up 7 hits, bringing his score to 15 and taking home the gold.

In the bronze medal round, Russia’s Nikolay Kovalev defeated Romania’s Rares Dumitrescu 15-10. After the first period, Kovalev led by a score of 8 hits to 3, but was able to reach 15 hits in the second period with each fencer scoring 7 hits.

Silver Medal: Diego Occhiuzzi, Italy
Bronze Medal: Nikolay Kovalev, Russia
