When Spain and Russia met earlier in the men’s Olympic basketball tournament, it was a battle for first place in Group B. Now, they meet again and this time, the stakes are a little higher. The two teams will meet Friday in the semifinals with a spot in the gold medal game on the line.

Spain and Russia will meet for the second time in the Olympics, this time with a spot in the gold medal game on the line.
The first game was a tightly contested matchup which Russia won 77-74. Sergey Karasev led Russia with 24 points while Pau Gasol was Spain's leading scorer with 20 points. Andrei Kirilenko leads Russia in scoring in the Olympics at 18.3 points per game, but he scored just eight points in the first meeting against Spain.
The winner of this game will advance to the gold medal game where they will face either the United States or Argentina. The loser will play the loser of the other semifinal for the bronze medal.
Friday’s semifinal is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on the NBC Sports Network. NBCOlympics.com will also have a live stream of the game.
