East Carolina beat North Carolina State today. Like, literally, today. And they’ve already got a billboard up zinging the Wolfpack:
East Carolina puts up pirate-themed billboard after beating North Carolina State
East Carolina’s favorite cancelled comedy show about a sports agent was probably ARRRRRRRRRRRRRLI$$.
Listener just emailed me this pic/billboard on HWY 1 in Wake Forest. Salvo at #NCSTATE #Wolfpack #ECUvsNCST pic.twitter.com/gcStLAFg26
— Dennis Glasgow (@dennisglasgow) November 23, 2013 My favorite part of this, somehow, is not that the immediate, braggadocious implication a football game over a 3-8 (0-7) North Carolina State team somehow gives the Pirates license to the whole state. It's worth noting that NC State has long tried to say that North Carolina is "our state," so this is a #SHOTSFIRED situation. It's also worth noting that North Carolina is indisputably a Duke football state.
My favorite part of this is that East Carolina so thoroughly OWNS being Pirates. We picture East Carolina staff members starting conversations like “so, where you wanna go to lunch” just so when you start to answer they can interrupt you and be like “I was thinking ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRBY’S” or similar things.
Also, wow, electronic billboards are amazing.
