Amar’e Stoudemire explains why he bathed in red wine
There’s an actual health reason!

By now, you may have seen this photo of Amar’e Stoudemire bathing in what appears to be red wine. The caption reads “Recovery Day! Red Wine Bath !! #Kinging #Blessed #Hebrews Getting ready for the eighth day feast,” leading one to believe that the Knicks’ forward, who has very publicly converted to Judaism, was performing some ritual to prepare for the last day of Sukkot, a fall Jewish holiday that involves building a temporary hut and eating inside it for eight days.
But as it turns out, there was a different reason:
.@Amareisreal says, "The red wine bath is very important for me b/c it creates more circulation of my red blood cells."
— Jonah Ballow (@jonahballow) October 16, 2014 Stoudemire also said his wife introduced him to the concept, which makes sense. It’s very similar to vinotherapy, an anti-aging technique where the leftover extractions from the wine-making process are rubbed into the skin. It reduces cellulite and helps people feel more invigorated. As Stoudemire noted, one of the substances in grade seeds -- Flavanoids, to be specific -- prevents red blood cells from sticking together and becoming ineffective.
This is where your “Amar’e is old” joke goes.
