Skip Bayless says Kobe Bryant’s rape allegation helped sell sneakers

James Dator
James Dator has been covering a wide range of sports for SB Nation for over a decade, with a special focus on the NFL.

There’s saying players need “edge” to help them sign endorsement deals, then there’s Skip Bayless suggesting that Kobe Bryant being accused of rape in 2003 allowed him to become more marketable.

Sexual assault isn’t a marketing technique and the suggestion that people were running out to buy shoes because Bryant was an alleged rapist is unconscionable.

The faces of his First Take co-hosts says it all.
