The NBA now sends replays to a centralized room at the league’s offices in Secaucus, N.J., having dedicated workers looking at replays to save officials time and effort. And whenever this happens, game broadcasts like to show what’s going on in the replay center, so we get a behind the scenes look. Except during Thunder-Rockets tonight ... we saw this:
Why is there a giant screen with Taylor Swift on in the NBA Replay Center?
Replays gonna play-play-play-play-play-play

@royceyoung Is that @taylorswift13 in the @nba replay center? pic.twitter.com/LaGUOwkRkY
— Mi$ha (@justMP1) November 17, 2014 We see a lot of TV's with a lot of basketball, and a lot of people doing their jobs ... and then one screen with Taylor Swift's face with the words TAYLOR SWIFT on it. And she's adjusting her glasses, as if she's watching.
We don’t recognize this screencap from any T-Swift video or ad. So why is Taylor looking out on the replay center?
- The NBA Replay Center is Oceania, and Taylor Swift is its Big Brother. She is watching, making sure her replay workers are doing what’s best for Ingsoc.
- The NBA Replay Center is constantly videochatting with Taylor Swift. Although the people in front of the computers look like they’re the ones making the decisions, they’re not. They’re just waiting for Taylor’s word. SHE MAKES ALL THE DECISIONS IN EVERY GAME IN THE LEAGUE.
- The NBA Replay Center’s big board is actually that thing Tom Cruise has in Minority Report, where the replay center technicians scan the evidence with cool futuristic gloves to decide who did something wrong. TAYLOR SWIFT IS WANTED FOR MURDER. Except not a murder -- just a flagrant foul.
Why is T-Swift on this screen? There’s only one game on right now, and we guess all 400,000 TV’s in the office aren’t necessary, so maybe somebody’s just enjoying themselves by listening to 1989. But we think it’s one of the other options.
