Connor Halliday’s tweet about his broken ankle is brutal

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

That would be Washington State quarterback Connor Halliday tweeting back to former teammate Taylor Meighen after Halliday's college career came to an early end when he broke his ankle on Saturday against USC. Halliday was in the midst of a prolific season and the injury clouds his future at the next level, with the recovery potentially keeping him out of some of the pre-draft workouts and all-star games.

As Brian Floyd wrote at CougCenter, the injury just isn’t fair:

That’s why this sucks and that’s why this stings way too much. Watching Halliday perform while finishing out his career and assaulting every record possible was fun. He deserved to finish the season. He deserved to walk out on senior night to lead the offense. He deserved it because he came to Washington State at a terrible time and worked his ass off to make something of it.
