Chase Utley and Ellen team up to give woman fighting cancer an unforgettable moment

Ellen isn’t new to surprising people on her show, but surprising a young woman who battled cancer with Phillies second baseman Chase Utley might be the best.
Julie Kramer found out she had cancer after running the Phillies 5K and found herself unable to breathe. A difficult diagnosis and marathon surgery later, she still found the energy to dance in the halls of her hotel room -- always staying upbeat.
When Ellen asked “Who’s your favorite player on the Phillies?” There was no hesitation, “Chase Utley,” she said. “He’s the man.” Then this happened.
Utley presented her with a gift basket from the Phillies, and Ellen teamed up with Target to give her a check for $10,000. Utley also invited his biggest fan to come watch as many games as she likes next season, and offered to show her around during batting practice and meet some of the players.
