There are plunked patrons and close calls every week on the PGA Tour, but cart paths, which they have a Riviera just outside LA, bring an extra element of danger for the crowd.
Fan at Riviera nearly clocked cold by drive off cart path
A fan avoided an ugly beaning by just inches at the Northern Trust Open.


Standing on the 18th tee, Charl Schwartzel rocketed his drive right and towards the path, where some unsuspecting fan was gingerly walking up toward the green. Fortunately, the ball buzzed just over his shoulder moments before his all-too-late flinch in reaction to the sound of the ball hitting the pavement. The CBS aerial cameras captured it in slo-mo:
