Ski jumper loses ski, crashes hard

The idea of ski jumping is frightening enough, without the possibility of losing a ski on the landing, but that’s precisely what happened to Taihei Kato of Japan in the Nordic Combined.

You can see the binding pop loose because of the vibration as he tries to slow down. The unpleasant feeling of realizing your shoes are untied while driving is NOTHING compared to this.

For a split second it appears Kato entertained the idea of trying to ride his lone ski down the slope like a snowboard, so we award him high marks for that... but ow, seriously ow.
