U.S. halfpipe skier sees the comedy in his 4.20 score

Lyman Currier didn’t have the run he wanted at Sochi, but the score he got seemed to work for him anyway.

U.S. halfpipe skier Lyman Currier didn’t have the most perfect experience at Sochi -- he wiped out on his first qualifying run, then had a scarier, more serious spill on his second that resulted in a knee injury and an early end to his Olympics.

Currier’s abbreviated time in Sochi did produce one memorable moment, though, thanks to his definitely-gets-it response to his score on that first run. It’s a shame that NBC’s cameras didn’t also capture him saying “Right? Like, halfpipe?”

Lyman Currier, best wishes on a speedy recovery and congratulations on vaulting to the top of our Awesomest Olympians standings.
