James Datorhas been covering a wide range of sports for SB Nation for over a decade, with a special focus on the NFL.
The NFL has come to a close, but another hemisphere is starting to prepare for a football season of its own. Super Rugby starts on Feb. 15, and FOX Sports in Australia put together a helpful primer video for the uninitiated. It features the Sharks from Durban, South Africa -- or “Shorks” if you’re into that kind of thing.
Let’s break down exactly what’s happening here, shall we?
0:06 - We have a surfing dog. Sky doesn’t seem thrilled at all about being on that board.
0:09 - Yeeheeheeyahooo!
0:19 - This is what would happen if the Pittsburgh Steelers developed a following in South Africa.
0:21 - Women are stripping to spell the team name. Good work Durban. Assuming they’re spelling the name is presumptuous, perhaps it’s spelling “ART” or “CARPORT.”
0:24 - This is what we’re all here for. Firstly, the halftime show appears to involve watching a little person do pushups, then put him on a surfboard which is being held in the air. Finally, this is the FOURTH WEIRDEST THING that’s happened in the “Shork Tank” according to the graphics overlay.
Things needed to happen, naturally.
And the Pièce de résistance
Shut it down! We’re done here. Watch the rest of the video, we can’t go on.
