Thursday night, during their first broadcast, they let Bob Costas talk about the political implications of holding the Games in a country with a shady, seemingly omnipotent leader. This meant he had to talk about Pussy Riot, the female punk band whose protests of Putin’s leadership ended up in jail, leading many worldwide to speak out against the country’s treatment of women who simply wanted to speak out about their rights.
This means Bob Costas, the world’s stodgiest television personality, had to say the words “Pussy Riot” on TV. By the way, he has an eye infection or something so he’s constantly squinting through strange glasses.
